About OpenTupa

OpenTupa is an educational company founded in 2025. OpenTupa means teacher's house or room in Finnish, in English the name describes well the company's values, which are based on openness, sustainable development and respect for nature. The company's goal is to increase well-being and creativity and to promote peace, democracy and equality between people.

Entrepreneurs Heli-Maija Heikkinen and Tapio Kesälahti have had a long career as teachers in the Finnish education system. Now, together with experienced and highly educated teachers, they share their knowledge and skills accumulated over the years for the benefit of those participating in the courses.

Primarily, OpenTupa offers continuing education courses for European teachers. The courses meet all Erasmus+ course requirements both in terms of content and the qualifications of the trainers. The course offerings in 2025 include peace education, creativity and the role of humans as part of nature. All the contents of the courses are designed in such a way that it is easy for teachers to use what they provide in their own work and to carry out exercises with their own students.
